Markets Co-Location Programme Manager

Following a strategic review of its three wholesale markets in 2017/18, the City has embarked on a major transformation and co-location strategy to ensure its markets are fit for the 21st century, sustainable and enable future expansion which is currently constrained at the existing locations. The City purchased a 42 acre site at Dagenham Dock in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham for this purpose. The City submitted a Private Bill to Parliament in November 2022 to obtain Royal Assent to move the markets.

This is a major undertaking and programme moving all three markets for the City, involving numerous internal and external stakeholders, tenants and Parliament. The estimated costs to relocate are in the region of £850m and disposals of c. £450m. This role is responsible for the day-to-day planning, and management of the project/programme, reporting directly to the Assistant Director – Markets Development and working closely with the Markets Director, and Chief Operating Officer, as Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), representatives from the City Surveyor, Remembrancer, City Solicitor, Chamberlain and elected members in support to the programme’s successful delivery.

To run the Markets Division’s Markets Co-Location Programme, acting as the Corporation’s source of advice on programme and project management policies and procedures.
