Principal Climate Emergency Officer

Closing date:  3 April 2023 - 12:00 am

Salary:  £50,757 - £53,799 per annum

Client:  Westminster City Council

We are recruiting up to three Principal Climate Emergency Officer roles to support the work of the Climate Emergency Programme. All three roles will help to support the strategic management, governance, and oversight of the programme, working with the Head of Climate Emergency to manage, review and oversee a range of interconnecting workstreams and priorities.

Westminster City Council has set an ambitious target for the Council to be net zero carbon by 2030, and for the City of Westminster by 2040.

As Principal Climate Emergency Officer, you can make a valuable contribution to the future of Westminster. You will work with the Head of Climate Emergency and colleagues in the Climate Team to support effective and timely delivery of Westminster’s Climate Emergency Action Plan priorities and projects. You’ll monitor and evaluate our approach across the programme and provide timely and accurate information to help inform decision making to drive forward progress.

You will establish and nurture valuable relationships with a range of stakeholders both within and outside of the council, including council colleagues, partner organisations, businesses, and communities, to promote collective and cooperative working towards our climate emergency goal.

Tackling the Climate Emergency is one of the biggest challenges facing the Council. This role provides the opportunity to be an integral part of an exciting and inclusive programme that influences all areas of the Council and wider city.
