Market Multimodal Logistics Manager

Closing date:  10 April 2023 - 12:00 am

Salary:  £59,710 - £68,190 per annum

Client:  City of London

Following a strategic review of its three wholesale markets in 2017/18, the City has embarked on a major transformation and co-location strategy to ensure its Markets are fit for the 21st century and sustainable and to enable future expansion which is currently constrained at the existing locations. The City purchased a 42 acre site at Dagenham Dock in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham for this purpose. In November 2022 the City submitted a Private Bill to Parliament to ask for Royal Assent to move the first two of its Markets. This is a major undertaking and programme for the City, involving numerous internal and external stakeholders, tenants and Parliament.

This role is responsible for leading on the development of the City’s Markets Transport Strategy across current and future sites. This workstream will require working with an extended team of City Officers and external consultants and stakeholders.

The outline planning application for the new market demands a well thought through plan for mitigating the traffic impact of the consolidated markets’ activity on the new location at Dagenham Dock, through the application of modern logistics techniques, including the opportunity for modal shift and other forms of sustainable transport in line with the London Plan and the City Corporation’s own ambitious transport policy.
